RockNRhythm 2.0 marks Popeye's monumental first show in Bangladesh
Rock N Rhythm 2.0 was organised by Adventor Communications on March 9 at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
When it was announced that Popeye Bangladesh would be hitting the stage for the first time in Bangladesh, the news sent shockwaves through the country. And the sentiment certainly echoed through the crowd yesterday as old and new fans alike flocked to ICCB to catch his performance. Raffan Imam's tenacious vocals coupled with the instrumentals of Popeye's iconic ballads had the audience swaying, singing, and shaking the ground. Some of the songs from the set included "Bhalobasha Baki", "Neshar Bojha", and "Bishonno Shundor". With one iconic song after another blaring through the speakers, the crowd was in full swing.
Popeye's music has resonated with his fans for over a decade now and the sentiment was reciprocated through gratitude by the renowned singer – thanking the crowd several times during the performance.
Rock N Rhythm 2.0 boasted a lineup of some of the biggest names in the industry. The ensemble of musicians set the stage and lit up the crowd through their sonic albeit, incredibly diverse range of sounds.
The likes of Smooches, Aftermath, Odd Signature and Highway graced the first half of the concert – setting up the atmosphere for an electric evening with their energetic performances. The latter half kicked off with Shonar Bangla Circus' spellbinding performance through psychedelic-infused rock tracks. Soon after, Meghdol followed, putting on a spine-tingling show through well-known songs such as "Na Bola Phul", "Esho Amar Shohore", and "E Hawa". The concert concluded following Ashes' performance. The band's set encapsulated the electric spirit of the crowd as they clung to every last beat, lyric, and strum of the guitar.
For nearly eight whole hours, ICCB was the epicentre of music that housed enthusiasts from all over the country – some of whom made the effort to come from outside Dhaka. It gave the masses an eagle's eye view of the exciting music industry.
There is no denying that Rock N Rhythm 2.0 was a landmark feat of a concert. The wait for Popeye Bangladesh to grace the stage was well worth the wait. Though it was Raffan Imam's first outing in Bangladesh, he hopes to come back once again and put on another stellar show.
