Jamal still dreams of playing in Argentina
Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan still dreams of playing for Argentina's third-tier outfit Sol de Mayo despite being denied release letter from Sheikh Russel KC.
"I am in touch with Sol de Mayo and I'm trying to go to Argentina in May," Jamal told The Daily Star in Sylhet on Monday, ahead of the second FIFA friendly against Seychelles. "I don't want to waste the opportunity to play in Argentina."
"I will request my club management [Sheikh Russel KC] to release me because by the time there will be only a few matches of Bangladesh Premier League left and the title will also be almost decided. Let's see what happens," added the 32-year-old midfielder.
The Bangladesh Premier League will restart on April 7 and will be halted from June 4 to July 6 due to the national team's preparation for FIFA friendly matches, SAFF Championship and Eid-ul-Adha. Sheikh Russel will have four matches left to complete the league at that point.
Jamal tried to get a release letter from the club through his agent Confianza Sports Management which placed a letter to the club management on March 1, requesting them to release Jamal for Sol de Mayo, but the club declined to release their captain.
Jamal then joined the national team camp in Saudi Arabia on March 6. The Bangladesh captain had previously played in India's I League for Mohammedan Sporting Club and his then club Saif Sporting released him on loan.
