Yesterday, Actors Equity Bangladesh held a press conference to announce that they are launching a special legal wing to protect TV artistes. TV actress Sadia Jahan Prova had her session where she addressed her fear regarding journalists, and how she is trying to maintain distance from them as some even tried 'touching' her.

Recently, a lawyer from Cumilla sent a legal notice to Prova for the publication of her decades-old intimate video and asked her to publicly apologise. At that event, many were hoping that the actress would divulge the whole issue, but Prova instead went on to narrate her tales of horrific experiences with reporters.

"I can't post anything on social media and even if I do I instantly delete it. I can't even be vocal about my rights as some people might make news out of it," said the actress.

Prova feels that she is subjected to mental torture by reporters who are always trying to make a scandal out of her life.

"When I was a child, I was afraid of getting hurt, because my mother would scold me if she found out. Now, even if I am physically abused, I try to hold it in, as my biggest fear right now is what if journalists find out - What will happen?

"They try to keep count of how many lovers came into my life, why they left me, and how to put the 'blame game' on me. I have been mentally tortured by them. When I filed for divorce paper, as per Islamic rules, I was supposed to receive my Den Mohor but I can't even ask for it as I am afraid that this might make it in the news. I could have done a lot if my journalist brothers had supported me," revealed the actress.

Recently, Prova posted on Instagram about the teachings of Ramadan, and it taught us about the importance of patience and virtue. Later on, local media wrote news that Prova finally apologised.

"I have told journalists to always talk to me before writing anything about me. And all of a sudden, I see headlines that 'Prova is finally apologising', I mean can you please tell me what I am supposed to be 'sorry' about? Most of them call me an 'attention seeker' as I post stuff like this. However, I don't want any attention as I am afraid people will make news about it," added Prova.

Prova requested the journalists to stand up for her if someone writes bad things about her on social media or in news.

At the end of the press conference, a journalist asked Prova about why reporters act like this with her.

The actress replied that she herself is trying to find the answer. The actress then went on to recount two horrible memories from her life regarding journalists.

"I have two horrible stories which have made me afraid of journalists. One time when I was in the makeup room, a reporter and a photographer, came to talk with me. As I was putting powder on my face the photographer started to click my pictures. I asked him why was he taking my pics and he told me that 'I am a journalist'. I was enraged by his comment. Who gave him the right to invade my privacy," stated the actress.

Another incident occurred in Uber, Prova got into a Uber and a reporter tagged along with her.

"He told me to drop him off at Airport and as he was like a brother to me, so I allowed him to sit beside me. During our conversation, he kept his hand on my leg and I was shocked 'Why did you touch me? None of my colleagues even dared to touch me and how dare you put your hand on me.' And he replied with a plain 'sorry'. Guess what, that reporter is a renowned journalist and I could guess by his tone that he didn't apologise with his heart. He tried to express his anger towards me in other ways. After going through such traumatic experiences, please tell me how I can act normal with journalists," concluded the actress.
