Taskin ruled out of Ireland Test, Raja added as replacement
Bangladesh paceman Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the one-off Test against Ireland, BCB officials informed today.
The Tigers have been undergoing practice session since yesterday. Taskin, who had been present yesterday, did not bowl at the nets but it was not an odd event as the other pacers had not been seen bowling either.
Taskin has a side strain and a replacement will be named today. "Taskin has been ruled out, his replacement will be named soon," a BCB official confirmed to The Daily Star.
Taskin has a grade two strain, BCB later said in a press release.
"Taskin underwent an MRI today which confirmed that he has a left side strain. Such injuries take about four weeks to recover from. This unfortunately means that he will not be available for the Test against Ireland," National Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan was quoted as saying in the media release.
Uncapped paceman Rejaur Rahman Raja has been added to the squad as Taskin's replacement.
Taskin's rise has been synonymous with Bangladesh's improved aggression in pace attack and the injury is a big blow given how well Taskin has performed in the white-ball series against Ireland.
