40 overs done, Shakib yet to come into bowling attack
Oddly enough, Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan is yet to introduce himself even after over 40 overs bowled during the Tigers' one-off Test against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Curtis Campher and Harry Tector have regrouped as Ireland bounced back following early hiccups on the opening day of the Test. After 40 overs, Ireland scored 121 for three.
Shakib has used the likes of Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan Miraz but is yet to introduce himself into the attack. The premier all-rounder also passed a relaxed day during the Tigers' team practice session yesterday.
A Kolkata Knight Riders official on Monday told The Daily Star that the franchise was looking to replace Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper Shakib for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League due to his packed schedule with the national team.
Shakib, however, seemed relaxed during Bangladesh's practice yesterday despite all the noise regarding his participation in the tournament. The premier all-rounder turned up for the practice session on the eve of the one-off Test against Ireland but did not take part in the training.
Meanwhile, going back to the action on the field today, Tector became the first Ireland batter to have scored 50 on debut in Tests.
