Will watch ‘Leader Amie Bangladesh’ with my parents: Shakib Khan
Despite all the controversies this year, Dhallywood star Shakib Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his new film "Leader Amie Bangladesh" for the coming Eid.
Directed by Topu Khan, Shakib will act opposite Shabnom Bubly in this film. Recently, the film's teaser and songs received a positive response from the audience.
Ahead of Eid, in a candid conversation with The Daily Star, Shakib Khan talked about his film, controversies, and Eid.
What are your plans for Eid?
I am planning to watch "Leader Amie Bangladesh" with my parents in the theatre. I hope they will love the film. Also, I want to tell the audience that they can watch the film with their families. From storytelling to production, everything will impress them.
Will you be in the theatres promoting the film after its release?
I want to go to the theatres to watch the audience's reaction to the film. Not only in Dhaka, but I also want to visit the halls outside of the city. I want to enjoy the film with my fans and experience their real reactions. Let's see how much I can do.
The song 'Kotha Ache' from the film has received appreciation from the audience. Everyone is talking about the song. How does that make you feel?
The song has been trending since its release. Such an incident has not happened for a long time in our industry. I think the audience liked this song because it perfectly synchronised with the story of the film. If they watch "Leader Amie Bangladesh", then they will be able to relate to the song even more. Apart from this, there are also a few romantic songs in the film. I hope the audience will enjoy them as well.
Why should people watch 'Leader Amie Bangladesh'?
The story of the film reflects the reality of our society. Those who will watch the film, will be able to relate with the story and think that it is their story too. When the film was screened at the Censor Board, they called me to express their appreciation for the film. Overall, this is a perfect movie for the occasion of Eid. That's why I think people should go and watch it in theatres.
You have been going to court recently. How has the experience been for you?
I came to the court as an artiste, because there are many false allegations against me. If I keep silent, they will think it's true. That's why I felt the urge to fight these false allegations. Apart from being an actor, I am also a human being, who has a family and children. Nobody understood my side of the story. It was a good thing for me to finally prove my innocence to my family and friends.
When will you be returning to shooting?
I hope to return to shooting in May. I have finalised everything about the new film and we will start shooting after Eid.
Many news films are being released for this upcoming Eid. Does that make you feel a bit of pressure?
No, I am not feeling any pressure. People will watch the films where the storylines, casting, and production are good. Now, filmmakers are making good films worldwide. People have so many options. However, I just want healthy competition in our industry.
What dish do you enjoy the most during Eid?
I enjoy anything that is cooked by my mother. However, I love her payesh the most. Hopefully, I am able eat it during this Eid.
