Afif ends six-year wait to hit maiden List A ton
It took six years, 106 matches, and 95 innings but Afif Hossain finally managed to strike his maiden List A century as he scored an unbeaten 111 to help set up a 42-run win for Abahani over Prime Bank Cricket Club at the Fatullah Stadium on Thursday in the ongoing season of the Dhaka Premier League.
Afif, who made his List A debut in 2017, smashed five sixes and six fours for his 101-ball 111 as Abahani posted 285 for five after being put into bat first.
Having come onto the crease at number four, he took 61 deliveries to reach his fifty and smashed the next fifty runs in just 36 balls, achieving the feat in 97 balls.
The 23-year-old was dropped last month in the T20I home series against Ireland and has also been left out of the side that is touring England for the reverse tour against the Irish.
League-leaders Abahani, who headed into the contest with a hold onto the top spot on the table, bundled out Prime Bank 243, courtesy of Pakistan recruit Khushdil Shah's left-arm spin as he scalped six wickets giving away 49 runs. The win opened up a two-point cushion for Abahani over defending champions and second-placed Sheikh Jamal DC, who won their contest against Mohammedan SC.
