Uncapped pacer Ebadat Hossain, who was a surprise inclusion in Bangladesh’s preparatory squad for the New Zealand series, is in the process of recovering from a side strain injury.

If he doesn’t recover in time he may not tour with the Bangladesh team to Australia, where the Tigers will work on preparing for their New Zealand series scheduled to take place in December.

According to chief selector Minhajul Abedin, Ebadat was injured around two weeks ago and they are still observing him. If he fails to recover, then one of the stand-bys will take his place.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Minhajul said: “ Ebadat has been included in the squad with an aim to develop him and his skills. He has the potential of doing well.

“He had suffered a side strain during training two weeks back and we are waiting for his recovery. We are still observing him. We are yet to announce a replacement for him.”

Ebadat won the Robi pace bowler hunt that was organised earlier this year.

The Bangladesh team is scheduled to depart for their training camp in Australia at the end of the Bangladesh Premier League on December 9.
