Last year, Mejbaur Rahman Sumon received a lot of love and praise for his directorial film "Hawa". The film also crossed borders, garnering a lot of attention when it was released internationally.

In recent times, Mejbaur Rahman Sumon has travelled to Kolkata, as he was requested to act as a jury member for an international film festival.

The "Hawa" director was offered the position of a jury member in the 5th edition of the Celluloid International Film Festival. The three-day long event kicks-off today and will continue until May 15, in Kolkata.

Speaking about the opportunity, Sumon told the media that this was the first time he was acting as a jury member for a film festival and that he was honoured to have been given such a role.

According to the "Hawa" director, numerous films from over 50 countries have already been submitted for the festival, including short films from Bangladesh. These films will be screened and scrutinised in the three day long festival. Sumon hopes that the films will be good enough to make his role as a juror a difficult task.

Aside from Sumon, noted personalities including Soumya Roy, Tandra Gupta, and Rudrarup Mukhopadhyay will also be joining the jury board.
