‘JK 1971’ wins best feature film at Rainbow Film Festival

The 24th Rainbow International Film Festival concluded on June 4 with a screening of "JK 1971" in London. The festival proved to be a success story for Bangladeshi films as "JK 1971" won the Best Film in the Feature Film category, while "Sataao" received a Rainbow Film Society Special Mention.

Moreover, another Bangladeshi film, "Tulika" also earned the Best Film award in the Short and Documentary category.

The festival started on May 28 at the Genesis Cinema Hall in East London. The festival showcased 45 films from different countries like, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and China from May 29 to June 3.

Robert Phillips, Jayashree Kabir, Pulak Gupta, Syed Anas Pasha, Zaki Rejoana, Sadek Ahmed Chowdhury, Syed Muqib Ahmed and Nadia Ali were on the jury board for this year's festival.

The first edition of the festival was held in London in 2000, under the initiative of Mustafa Kamal, leader of the Rainbow Film Society. Since then, this film festival has taken place every year.
