Power supply from Adani plant’s second unit begins

Bangladesh now can import more electricity from the Adani power plant in India as the second unit of it started commercial operation.

The development has been confirmed by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) officials and Adani sources.

Adani Power today issued a statement to the Mumbai stock exchange, saying that they have started commercial operations at the second unit at 24:00 hrs BST following successful completion of Reliability Run Tests.

The power plant is located in an Indian village in Jharkhand about 100km from the Bangladesh border. The electricity from there is coming through a dedicated transmission line.

Bangladesh will be able to import electricity as per need from the power plant's 1,496 megawatts capacity. On April 7, the first unit of 748MW capacity started commercial operation.

Two PDB officials, seeking anonymity, confirmed The Daily Star about the starting of cross-border transmission.
