Legendary singer Sandhya Mukherjee breathed her last on February 15, last year (2022), at the age of 90.

After just 16 months of her demise, the home where she lived during her last days had been demolished by her promoters.

She was equally loved on both sides of the border. After the news was reported fans reacted on social media. D-613 Garden in Kolkata was her last address which is the witness of many historical moments.

The house was surrounded with memories of the eminent singer, which was handed over to the promoters by her daughter Soumi Sengupta, after a few months of her passing away.

One of her fans, Manvi, recovered Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's portrait from Sandhya's house. The photo that used to hang on the walls was found covered with dust, abandoned on the ground.

Manvi delivered the frame to singer Kaushiki Chakraborty. The singer respectfully placed the photo at her place and expressed her heartbroken reaction.

According to Indian portals, Swapan Mukherjee was Sandhya's secretary for more than 4 decades. He shared that from Hemanta Mukherjee, Nachiketa, Manna Dey, Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, to artistes including the likes of Shyamal Mitra and Salil Chowdhury among others regularly visited this place.

He also shared that the house was never tagged as a heritage, and the walls were also cracked even when Sandhya was alive. According to Swapan, it was impossible for Soumi to take care of the entire three-storied building alone. During the monsoon the building would be flooded with water.
