Zico named best goalkeeper of SAFF Championship
Following an outstanding campaign in the SAFF Championship, Bangladesh's Anisur Rahman Zico was named the goalkeeper of the tournament.
On Tuesday, Zico was announced as the tournament's best goalkeeper during the prize-giving ceremony following the final, in which India beat Kuwait in penalties to win their record-extending ninth SAFF title at the Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium.
Bangladesh players exited the tournament with their heads held high last Saturday when Javier Cabrera's troops suffered a 1-0 defeat against a strong Kuwait. After making a number of saves to keep Bangladesh in the contest, Zico was only beaten in the first half of the extra time in that game.
Zico shone throughout the tournament as he helped Bangladesh achieve their tournament objective of reaching the semifinal of the SAFF Championship for the first time in 14 years.
Bangladesh players returned to the country on Monday.
