Khushbu wins gold in Asian School Chess Championships
Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Warsia Khusbu won the gold medal in the Girls Under-11 Group of the Asian School Chess Championships after the ninth round in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
Khusbu tied with Abylaykyzy Bibisara of Kazakhstan with an even seven points from nine matches. She then won gold following a tie-breaker where the Bangladesh WCM drew with Xikmatkhonova Mokhinur of Uzbekistan in the ninth and final round.
A total of 22 players from India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan participated in this event.
On Thursday, Khusbu became fourth in Girl'S U-11 Blitz Chess at the Asian School Chess Championships. She won the silver medal with five points in seven games and finally finished fourth after the tiebreaking system.
Meanwhile, FIDE Master (FM) Manon Reja Neer secured 12th place in the Issykkul Open Chess Category 'A' held in Kyrgyzstan. FM Manon tied for the eighth place with six points from 10 games and finally finished 12th after the tie-breaking system and as a result increased his FIDE rating to 114, said a Bangladesh Chess Federation press release.
