Eid hits still ruling: 'Priyotoma', 'Shurongo' unstoppable 50-Day run
The magic of Eid-ul-Adha continues to reverberate across theatres in Bangladesh as five Eid films mark their triumphant 50-day journey on the silver screen.
On the occasion of Eid, five films were released in theatres– Himel Ashraf's "Priyotoma," Raihan Rafi's "Shurongo," Bandhan Biswas' "Laal Shari," Chayanika Chowdhury's "Prohelika," and Saikat Nasir's "Casino." These movies, each with its own unique narrative and style, crossed the 50-day milestone.
Among these, "Priyotoma" and "Shurongo" stand out as the reigning champions, continuing to dominate single halls while captivating audiences at multiplexes.
"Priyotoma" has gracefully held its ground in 36 theaters nationwide, with an impressive eight shows across five branches at the Star Cineplex. Manzoor Alam, the manager of Versatile Media, the film's production and distribution company, remarked, "Today marks the 52nd day since the film's release, and its success story is still unfolding. We witness a surge in viewers, especially during weekends and holidays."
Meanwhile, "Shurongo," even in its eighth week, has managed to capture the hearts of audiences in 16 theatres outside Dhaka and Dhaka itself. With 10 shows in six branches of Star Cineplex, the film has demonstrated a resilience that's synonymous with cinematic success.
The phenomenon doesn't end here – "Prohelika," continues its run in four theatres nationwide, from Razia in Nagorpur to Shapla in Rangpur and Swapneel in Kushtia. "Casino," another Eid delight, has been running in five theaters, including Sugandha in Chittagong, Panna in Muktarpur, and Madhobi in Modhupur. Not to be forgotten, "Laal Shari" is running in three theatres, namely New Gulshan in Jinjira, Madhumita in Bhairab, and Purobi Cinema in Mymensingh.
