Tamim back to batting in the nets

Bangladesh stalwart Tamim Iqbal returned to batting in the nets today after one-and-a-half months hiatus at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The left-hander, who had last batted during the first ODI against Afghanistan on July 5, had a 15-minute session under the supervision of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) newly appointed chief rehabilitation center physio Kieron Thomas. Tamim is currently undergoing rehabilitation after injury forced the opening batter to step down as ODI captain. “I am confident of getting him back in the New Zealand series. We need Tamim very much for the World Cup. Tamim's experience, Tamim's performance are very necessary for us to do well," selector Habibul Bashar told reporters on Saturday. PHOTO: FIROZ AHMED
