Vijay-Samantha pair hits off after previous box office failures.
After facing a big setback with "Liger" starring Vijay Deverakonda and "Shaakuntalam" starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the two artistes paired up for their latest film, "Kushi" released on September 1. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film has been going strong on Indian cinema halls.
According to media outlets, "Kushi" has almost caught up to "Liger" with just its first two days of collection. The project earned Rs 1.525 crore on its first screening day and collected over Rs 9 crore on the second day, bringing the film's total collection in India to Rs 24.25 crore.
Meanwhile, outside the native borders of India, the Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha starrer film has already collected over Rs 30 crore from worldwide screening.
As per media outlets, "Kushi" was made with a budget of Rs 50 crore, which the film has already recovered on the film's second-day collection. Compared to "Liger" which had a budget of Rs 90 to 125 crore, and "Shaakuntalam" which had a massive Rs 600 crore budget. "Kushi" seems to have become a turning point for Samantha and Vijay after their last films failed to meet box office expectations.
"Kushi" narrates the sweet tale of how two lovers, an army officer and a Kashmiri girl, face many twists and turns of life. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Murli Sharma, and Saranya Ponvannan among others.
