Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Jawan’ sets record for biggest Hindi film opening
Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" has swept up a storm in theatres. The film which was released on Thursday, has performed exceptionally well both domestically and internationally.
The Atlee film has already passed the Rs 200 crore gross mark worldwide. This number has thus made the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, the largest opening day in Hindi film history.
According to Sacnilk.com, "Jawan" earned Rs 75 crore nett in India on the first day of its release. On its second day, it minted Rs 53 crores which is nearly as high as the opening day of Shah Rukh Khan's last venture "Pathaan."
Taran Adarsh, a film trade expert, has also revealed "Jawan's" box office figures in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the UK.
Red Chillies Entertainment posted on Twitter, " As 'Jawan' says this is only the beginning. Many thanks for the massive love."
The caption was accompanied by a poster of "Jawan", which stated that the film's 'Day 1' collections were Rs 129.6 crore, making it the biggest opening day in the history of Indian cinema.
Taran had previously stated on Twitter, "Exclusive data... SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) demonstrates his supremacy internationally... 'Jawan' creates barrages worldwide," the post read.
"Australia: Day one business debuts at number one with 398,030 Australian dollars (Rs 2.11 billion). New Zealand also makes its debut at number one. It has earned $79,805 (Rs 39.13 lakh). In Germany, it debuted in third place with €146,014 (Rs 1.3 crore), and £208,061 (Rs 2.16 crore) in the United Kingdom. This will be updated later," added the post.
From celebrating the release outside the theatres to transforming the theatres into stadiums with loud celebrations and dancing — the level of frenzy observed for this action entertainer is unprecedented. The film is directed by Atlee and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles.
"Jawan" has already surpassed the Rs 200 crore gross mark in barely two days of worldwide release. According to Box Office India, the film has grossed Rs 230 crore globally and is expected to gross around Rs 500 crore in its opening weekend.
