You all will regret allowing Hindi films in Bangladesh: Delwar Jahan Jhantu
In the middle of the ongoing enthusiasm around Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Jawan", filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhantu declared an open war against the Hindi film by releasing his own film.
"Sujon Majhi" starring Ferdous Ahmed and Nipun Akter, was released in 19 theaters while "Jawan" was screened across 46 cinema halls.
Delwar Jahan Jhantu spoke with The Daily Star about the impending dangers of releasing Hindi films in Bangladesh.
"Hindi movies are being released in our country without following any proper guidelines. Once a local film is slated to be released on September 7, then how can a foreign film be showcased on the same date?" questioned the director.
"This is a fatal decision for our Bangladeshi films. People who have taken this decision are enemies of our film industry," added the director.
The "Jadrel Bou" director also warned the filmmakers that they would regret the decision to allow Hindi films in local theaters.
"Many of you might not understand the danger right now. However, one day you will realise my warnings, and then you won't have anything to do but cry over the whole situation," states the director.
"You might think I am doing this because of the release of my film. However, I have been religiously advocating against the screening of Hindi movies in cinema halls. You will all cry in the future but sadly you won't be able to do anything about it," concluded the director.
