Shoriful steps up to remove Nissanka, Mendis
Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam returned in his second spell to grab two much-needed wickets for the Tigers in the two side's Super Four match of the Asia Cup in Colombo today.
The second-wicket stand between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis was looking ominous for Bangladesh after Hasan Mahmud drew first blood to remove opener Dimuth Karunaratne.
Following a 74-run partnership for the second wicket, which took the home side over three figures in quick time, Shoriful got one to zip back to right-hander Nissanka, trapping him in front. Sri Lanka opted for a review but to no avail as Nissanka's knock ended for a 60-ball 40.
Following Nissanka's dismissal, Mendis also fell prey to Shoriful after reaching his 23rd ODI fifty. Sri Lanka are 117 for three in 26 overs.
