Bangladesh pacers took eight wickets amongst themselves as the Tigers managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 257 for eight in the Asia Cup Super contest between the two sides at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday.

Pacer Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud picked up three wickets each, while Shoriful Islam scalped two.

The Tigers dropped Afif Hossain and brought in left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed to add to reinforce their bowling attack. It paid dividends as the 28-year-old who is playing in his first match in this ongoing edition kept it very tight, giving away just 31 runjs from his full quota, while skipper Shakib Al Hasan went wicketless but at the same remaining economical throughout as he gave away 44 from his 10 overs.

Sri Lanka batter Sadeera Samawickrama smashed an impressive 72-ball 93 where he hit eight fours and two sixes as he stitched a 60-run stand with Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka in the latter stage of the innings.

It appeared that Samarawickrama would go berserk at the backend of the innings but the Tigers bowlers held their own and executed their skills well to restrict the hosts under the average first-innings total of 267 recorded in the past five years in day-night contests at the venue.

Earilier, opener Kusal Mendis scored a 73-ball fifty to trigger the Lankans to a start.
