Bangladesh sent in to bat; Tanzim Sakib debuts
Bangladesh were sent in to bat in their final Asia Cup Super Four contest against India at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday.
Bangladesh's Asia Cup hopes have already been dashed but with a host of starters unavailable, but today's clash gives the Tigers an opportunity to try some new combinations and finish their campaign on a high ahead of the upcoming World Cup in October.
For the Tigers, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib made his debut, while Anamul Haque Bijoy, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman returned to the side.
India also made five changes, with Tilak Varma making his debut.
India skipper Rohit Sharma explained his decision to field first, saying that they have not been able to bat enough under lights in this tournament so far. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said that he was not sure what to choose had he won the toss but did not mind that the Tigers were asked to bat first.
