I am nervous about 'Khufiya': Badhan

Tabu, Badhan face to face in 'Khufiya' trailer

The highly anticipated trailer for the Netflix film "Khufiya," directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, was unveiled today. This marks the Bollywood debut of actress Azmeri Haque Badhan, and it's already creating quite a buzz in the industry.

"Khufiya" unfolds as a gripping espionage thriller, where the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) is confronted with the haunting presence of a mole within its ranks. Tabu, the powerhouse performer, leads a relentless mission to unveil the identity of this elusive traitor. The trailer, running for over two minutes, teases viewers with an intriguing narrative, boldly claiming to be "based on true events." Badhan was seen in the last part of the trailer where she was conversing with Tabu and telling her that she is known as 'KM' in Bangladesh.

As R&AW races against time to pinpoint the mole, suspicion inevitably falls on Ali Fazal's character, heightening the suspense. However, in a plot where nothing is as it seems, suspicion continuously shifts from one character to another, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

"I am nervous about 'Khufiya' at this moment. The reason is that I have acted alongside an actress like Tabu. Most of my scenes are with her. The audience has high expectations, and this anticipation has made me anxious. One thing that feels good, sharing screen with Tabu, is like a dream come true. This is a great achievement for me," said Badhan to The Daily Star

"Khufiya," set for release on October 5, draws inspiration from the book "Escape to Nowhere," authored by Amar Bhushan, the former Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW. The film offers a glimpse into Ali Fazal's life, where even his wife, portrayed by Wamiqa Gabbi, questions his loyalty to the nation, blurring the lines between trust and betrayal.

Azmeri Haque Badhan's acting prowess came into the limelight with her remarkable portrayal of the title character in "Rehana Maryam Noor," a film that earned a place in the "Un Certain Regard" section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Following this breakthrough, she continued to shine in roles such as the titular character in the thrilling web series "Rabindranath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni," directed by Srijit Mukherji, and in the web series "Guti."

As anticipation builds for the release of "Khufiya" and Azmeri Haque Badhon's Bollywood debut, fans and critics alike eagerly await her performance in this promising espionage thriller.
