Arifin Shuvoo gives it his all in ‘Mujib’
Noted actor Arifin Shuvoo is all set to appear as Bangladesh's founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Bangladesh and India's upcoming joint venture biopic "Mujib: The Making of a Nation".
In fact, the "Black War" star had earned quite a bit of praise from his co-stars and veteran actors.
Recently, renowned actors Chanchal Chowdhury and Fazlur Rahman Babu, who are also a part of the biopic's cast, also praised Arifin Shuvoo's efforts to portray Bangabandhu, at the press conference for "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" upcoming theatrical release, held yesterday at Sheraton Hotel, Dhaka.
Chanchal Chowdhury will be seen donning the role of Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfur Rahman in the biopic.
Sharing his experience with Shuvoo as a co-star, Chanchal said, "Shuvoo is donning the role of Bangabandhu in the biopic, and playing such a character in a biopic is a tremendous pressure for any artiste. Shuvoo's effort and dedication towards his role as an actor is really commendable."
"Mujib: The Making of a Nation" was directed by Shyam Benegal, the shooting for the film started back in January 2021 and concluded in December.
"Even before coming to this event, I was watching scenes from the biopic, we have been waiting for this day to see the biopic on screen for the last two years," added Chanchal. "I was truly a massive project involving Bangladesh and India—which portrays the legacy of a man who offered his entire lifetime for the nation. You will get to see glimpses of his life in the 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation".
Noted actor Fazlur Rahman Babu will be seen playing Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad, the Former President of Bangladesh.
Speaking about Arifin Shuvoo, the veteran actor shared. "I assure you Shuvoo really gave his best in the biopic. Adequately donning a character to in a biopic is quite a daunting task, however, Shuvoo has done it with his utmost effort and dedication."
"Chanchal bhai had previously told me that acting a biopic character is quite a difficult task and I am playing a character who is quite close to Bangladeshi heart and emotions," remarked Arifin Shuvoo.
He further expressed his gratefulness for getting a chance to be a part of the biopic, saying, "Even if I was selected for a passing shot or taken in to be a spot-boy for this film on Bangabandhu directed by Shyam Benegal sir—I would have gladly taken it. It is my biggest honour to be a part of this film."
Aside from Arifin Shuvoo, the film has a stellar cast lineup, with Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Nusrat Faria, Riyaz Ahmed, and Zayed Khan. Fans will also get to see Dilara Zaman, Siyam Ahmed, Khairul Alam Sabuj, Ferdous Ahmed, Dighi, Raeesul Islam Asad, and Gazi Rakayet, amongst many others in the biopic.
"Mujib: The Making of a Nation" will soon greet the audience this Friday (October 13). The film is set to be screened in over 153 cinema halls across the nation.
