Liton apologises to media for outburst
Bangladesh opener Liton Das on Monday issued an apology on social media for his recent outburst at the Bangladeshi media contingent in Pune where the Tigers are scheduled to play their next World Cup game against hosts India on October 19.
The incident took place on Sunday, when a group of journalists from Bangladesh were present at the lobby of the Tiger's team hotel in Pune, Hotel Conrad, which Liton took an offence to.
"Why are the media here? Why are they taking my photo?" Liton reportedly vented at the hotel security staff.
The security then asked the Bangladeshi journalists to leave the premises.
After receiving a considerable amount of flak for his outburst, Liton on Monday morning, took to Facebook where he expressed regret over the events of the previous day.
"I'm sincerely sorry for the unfortunate incident that took place at the team hotel yesterday," read the inscription on a photo he posted on his official Facebook page.
"I actually hadn't realised that so many people from the media would be present there. I apologise for the incident that unexpectedly took place. I've always been respectful towards the media. The contributions of the media in the progress of Bangladesh cricket is undeniable," it further read.
