Movie about Picchi Hannan is officially in the works
A film is in production centering on Picchi Hannan, a prominent figure among Bangladesh's terrorists. Indian filmmaker Subhajit Chakraborty is set to direct the project titled "Hannan".
Hannan, originally from Faridganj in Chandpur District, initially arrived at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka to assist his father's business with raw materials. However, he gradually became involved in petty crimes, robberies, and homicides. Over time, he amassed substantial wealth and resorted to violence against anyone who opposed his endeavours.
Due to his distinctive appearance, he earned the moniker 'Picchi Hannan'. By the time he was killed in a confrontation with Rab in 2004, he had been implicated in 21 murder cases. The film project being developed thus delves into the narrative of this notorious figure, Hannan.
Joy Chowdhury has been cast in the titular role of "Hannan". Joining him are two leading actresses from West Bengal, Puja Banerjee and Madhurima Basak. Aritra Das, the film's producer, confirmed this information to Aajkaal, a media outlet in West Bengal. Collaborating with him on production is Jonas Films International, a Bangladeshi company.
The producer stated, "I am creating what could be described as a masala movie. It features romance and plenty of action all while narrating the tale of a Muslim family."
Joy Chowdhury has refrained from commenting on "Hannan" until he officially informs the production company. Nevertheless, he has acknowledged his involvement in the film. It's been revealed that the actor's appearance in the movie will be finalised in March, followed by an official announcement.
The director has scheduled the entire team to undergo approximately three months of rehearsals to ensure thorough preparation before filming. If everything proceeds as planned, shooting is slated to commence in July. Additionally, the cast includes Kaushik Ganguly, Deboshree Ganguly, Biswajit Ghosh, and Kazi Zaara.
Bangladeshi artistes will feature in the songs of the "Hannan" movie. Most recently, Balam and Konal lent their voices to a song titled "Mon Diye", with Lincon Roy Chowdhury composing the lyrics and tune for the track. Furthermore, reports are indicating the inclusion of an unreleased song by India's legendary music director, Bappi Lahiri.
