As artistes across the nation speak out against ongoing violence and aggression towards the quota reform protesters, actress Tasnia Farin has taken to social media to express regret for her silence. Yesterday, in a heartfelt Facebook post, Farin apologised to protesters for not raising her voice earlier, admitting that fear had kept her quiet.

Farin wrote, "So much time has passed, and whether I speak now or not, it may not matter. But I can't stand being silent any longer. I've been quiet out of fear for my safety, lacking the courage to see the country's interests above mine — this failure is entirely mine. Instead of issuing a half-hearted statement, I thought it better to stay silent."

She continued, "Today, as thousands gather at Shaheed Minar, risking their safety to secure the future, it feels ridiculous for me to sit at home worrying about my safety. The real celebrities are ordinary people working tirelessly to reform the country without any support. There's so much we can learn from them. Maybe someday, I'll have the courage to speak freely without hesitation. Even now, I'm erasing and rewriting my words. I'm sorry for the pain I've caused. As a citizen of Bangladesh, I want democracy to be restored. If anyone can do it, it's you."

Responding to her post hundreds of people have commented on her delayed stance on the matter. One user wrote, "You are thinking about your own safety, while the ordinary people, without worrying about their own safety, want to free the country from tyranny."

Another commented "You have publicly apologised by acknowledging the truth. I don't know if everyone will forgive you, but I have forgiven you, though I had higher expectations of you, sister. And yes, even from afar, a lot could have been done if you wanted, even if not publicly, then privately. Anyway, you have the courage to apologise, thank you for that. I have already unfollowed you; if you ever prove yourself worthy of being followed again, I will follow you. Take care."

In addition to her public statement, Farin is also making waves in the film industry. Indian media outlet Anandabazar reported that Farin will star alongside popular Tollywood actor Dev in an upcoming film titled "Protikkha", directed by Avijit Sen.

Farin has gained popularity among West Bengal audiences through her projects on OTT platforms and YouTube, particularly after her debut in Atanu Ghosh's "Aaro Ek Prithibi". Her performance in the film earned her critical acclaim and the Best Debut Actress Award at the Filmfare Awards Bangla 2024.

Director Avijit Sen commented on Farin's casting, saying, "Farin was selected by Atanu Raychaudhuri. I also admire her acting. We were looking for a new face to pair with Dev."

While the filmmakers are keeping details of "Protikkha's" plot under wraps, they hinted that the essence of the story is encapsulated in the title. The screenplay, penned by Subhadeep Das, is currently in progress, with shooting set to begin in November. The majority of the film will be shot in London, with additional scenes in Kolkata.

Contrary to earlier rumours, the film will not feature Prosenjit Chatterjee alongside Dev, as seen in "Kacher Manush". Instead, the film will focus on the proven chemistry between Dev and Mithun Chakraborty, who previously played father and son in "Projapoti". Director Atanu reassured fans that, aside from this similarity, the new film's backdrop and circumstances are entirely different.

As one of the most successful trios in contemporary Tollywood, Dev, Avijit Sen, and Atanu Raychaudhuri are gearing up for their fourth collaboration after delivering hits like "Tonik", "Projapoti", and "Pradhan". The industry is eagerly awaiting the release of "Protikkha" to see if it will continue their streak of success.
