National University (NU) is going to hold admission tests for honours degrees from the next academic session, said the newly appointed vice-chancellor Prof ASM Amanullah today.

He said they have been preparing strategic plans to reform the existing syllabus with a view to enhance the quality of degrees conferred by the university and to develop its industry-academia link.

The VC was addressing a student-teachers rally in Bogura's Shibganj upazila.

He said the year 2025 will be the year of examinations to curtail the session jam.

"All the backlogged examinations will be held next year and by the end of year, the ongoing session jam is expected to be reduced by 80 percent," he said, adding that a roadmap will be announced to increase the students' attendance in the classes, to monitor assignments and in-course examinations.

The NU VC also proposed the inclusion of short ICT and technical courses at all graduation degrees and at honours level.

Currently, the NU admits students on the basis of theirs SSC and HSC results.
