Gol Talab: A pond to remember!

Ponds in Dhaka are a rarity. Among those that are in existence is the iconic and old Gol Talab (the Round Pond), which is also referred to as Nawab Bari's pond. And indeed, the tank is located near Nawab Bari (i.e., Ahsan Manzil), in the Islampur area.

Surrounded by buildings, the roundish tank is a breather, a recluse to the locals and visitors looking for serenity and recreation. To illustrate, one can go angling there in exchange of a fee.

According to a signboard in the entrance, it is owned by the beneficiaries of Moulvi Khwaja Abdullah Welfare Trust, and is managed by Nawab Bari Tank Committee.
