Ajay Devgn is gearing up to direct his next film, with Akshay Kumar taking on the lead role. The actor-turned-director made the announcement during yesterday's Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024.

In the middle of a discussion with Sonal Kalra, chief managing editor of Entertainment & Lifestyle at Hindustan Times, Akshay and Ajay were asked about their next project together. With a subtle smile, Ajay revealed plans for their upcoming collaboration were already in motion.

"This is something we were going to announce later but I think this is a great platform. We are already working on something together where I am directing the film and he is in the film," Ajay revealed.

When the duo was urged to divulge more regarding this thrilling new project, Ajay was quick to assert, "It's a little too early, we will talk about it."

Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn were more recently seen sharing the screen in Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again". Ajay took on the lead role, while Akshay made a special appearance. The film also featured a star-studded cast, including Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff.

Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar have previously shared the screen in films like "Khakee", "Sooryavanshi", and "Suhaag". As a director, Ajay has helmed projects such as "Bholaa", "Runway 34", "Shivaay", and "U Me Aur Hum".

During the HTLS 2024, when questioned about whether the high costs of films today are influenced by actors demanding substantial salaries, Ajay replied, "The actors charge according to scripts, films, and projects. And most of us are charging according to recoveries."

"I agree with most of what he said. If we sign a film today, we don't charge anything; we just take a stake. If it works, we get a share in the profit, but if it doesn't, we don't get any money," added Akshay Kumar elaborating that profit-sharing allows actors to benefit from a film's success while also bearing the consequences of its failure. This approach creates a more balanced and fair arrangement for producers.
