‘Voyal’ can be disturbing for viewers under 18: Golam Farida Chhonda
Golam Farida Chhonda, a renowned actress with a 24-year-long career in showbiz, made her debut in 1999 with the drama "Kajol Kalo Din" on Bangladesh Television. Her first performance brought her widespread recognition, and one of her most significant roles came in "Streer Patra", a Rabindranath Tagore adaptation directed by Mustafa Monwar, where she portrayed Mrinalini. The role earned her immense praise, solidifying her reputation as a talented actress.
Over her career, Chhonda has appeared in countless one-hour dramas, telefilms, and serials, in addition to starring in seven films. Her latest project, "Voyal", directed by Biplob Hayder, is set to release on November 29.
Chhonda describes the essence of "Voyal" as rooted in its compelling and impactful story. "The narrative is truly the hero of this film. It is a strong, powerful story that captivates audiences," she said.
She also shared her experience of shooting in the Khasi community area of Srimangal, calling it a memorable journey filled with moments that will stay with her. Chhonda praised her co-actors for their stellar performances and lauded the director for his unique approach to storytelling.
"I believe viewers enjoy films with engaging stories, high-quality production, and exceptional performances—and I'm confident that 'Voyal' delivers on all fronts," she said.
In response to a question about the film's suitability, Chhonda explained, "The film is intended for an 18+ audience. It has received an adult certification due to some intense and violent scenes. However, all these elements are depicted in an artistic manner, and it may be disturbing for younger viewers."
In the film, Chhonda plays the role of the heroine's mother, a woman who takes on the responsibility of the family and faces numerous challenges with resilience.
Chhonda's debut film was "Arpita", directed by Shahriar Nazim Joy, followed by her second film, "Joiboti Konnar Mon", directed by Nargis Akter. Several other films, including "Nakshi Kathar Zamin" directed by Akram Khan, are also awaiting release.
"I want to act in meaningful roles that resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impression," Chhonda shared.
Recently, she completed filming the telefilm "Tumi Asbe Bole", which will air in December. She has also been part of the popular series "Mashrafe Junior" for nearly four years, which continues to enjoy a positive response from viewers. Additionally, she stars in another series, "Dadajan", currently on air, which is based on rural life.
Reflecting on her long career, Chhonda said, "Over the past 24 years, I've received immense love and support from the audience. For an artist, the greatest reward is the love and appreciation of the people."
"Voyal" will be released on November 29, and Chhonda hopes the film's powerful narrative and performances will resonate with its viewers.
