Metro rail services experienced a 15-minute disruption this evening due to a technical fault on a train at Motijheel station.

Operations resumed shortly afterward with other trains, leaving the faulty train parked at the station, confirmed Mohammad Abdur Rouf, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), to The Daily Star.

Chaitanya Halder, a passenger, said the train was supposed to leave Motijheel station at 6:43pm.

Despite passengers boarding the train, approximately 10 minutes later, metro rail authorities announced over loudspeakers that they needed to disembark, providing no explanation, he added.

He said passengers crowded another train that arrived at the station after sometime due to the disruption.

Rouf said the issue arose from a technical fault in the train. "Our technical team is addressing the problem, and the train will be moved to the depot after today's operations conclude," he added.
