‘Snow White’ trailer: Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot reimagine Disney classic
Disney has released the official trailer for its much-awaited live-action film "Snow White," featuring Rachel Zegler in the titular role. The trailer highlights Rachel's impressive singing talent, her triumph over Gal Gadot's villainous character, and more exciting glimpses from the movie.
Helmed by director Marc Webb, Disney's latest adaptation revisits a beloved tale from childhood. The film reimagines the 1937 animated classic 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." It follows Snow White as she flees into the forest after her jealous and wicked stepmother, the Queen, orders her death. There, she encounters the enchanting seven dwarfs in their woodland cottage.
Rachel Zegler takes on her first leading role since her breakout performance in Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story." In this film, she will showcase her talents in singing and dancing while bringing the iconic character of Snow White to life—a role familiar to audiences through books and screen adaptations. Gal Gadot stars alongside her as the wicked stepmother, driven by envy over her stepdaughter's beauty.
"Snow White" will also star Andrew Burnap, Martin Klebba, and Ansu Kabia. The screenplay is penned by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
"Snow White" has faced controversy since its announcement. In January 2022, award-winning actor Peter Dinklage criticised the film for its portrayal of dwarfs.
Additionally, Rachel Zegler has been criticised by several right-wing groups after she spoke out against the original story's heavy focus on Snow White finding love.
The film is scheduled for release in theaters on March 21, 2025.
