The popular children's show "Sisimpur" has launched an exciting new initiative for young learners. This time, the programme has introduced a special series featuring 40 of the most well-known and cherished Bangla nursery rhymes. The rhymes are performed by the show's adored characters—Halum, Tuktuki, Ikri, and Shiku—making the experience both fun and engaging for kids.

As part of the USAID-supported Sisimpur project, these high-quality video productions aim to foster accurate Bangla pronunciation. The initiative has been meticulously crafted with the comprehensive assistance of USAID/Bangladesh, ensuring an educational yet entertaining experience for children.

The series features a curated selection of 40 rhymes, with most drawn from the pre-primary to second-grade curriculum. This thoughtful inclusion allows children to engage with their textbook rhymes in a more enjoyable and interactive way.

Beyond the classroom content, the series also incorporates a variety of popular and entertaining rhymes, designed to spark creativity and support intellectual growth among young learners.

Mohammad Shah Alam, Managing Director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB) and Chief of Party for the USAID's Sisimpur Project, shared his thoughts on the initiative, highlighting the importance of rhymes in early childhood education.

"Rhymes are a powerful tool for teaching language to young children," he explained. "They significantly aid in the development of vocabulary, pronunciation, rhythm, expression, sentence construction, creativity, and imagination. With this in mind, we have developed video content for 40 rhymes as part of the first phase of the project. These videos aim to make learning more engaging and meaningful for children. As always, we look forward to the continued support of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in bringing this initiative to life."

Sources from "Sisimpur" confirm that the rhymes are already being streamed on the programme's social media platforms. Furthermore, these rhymes will soon be available to children and parents via the Sisimpur app, selective television channels, and a variety of community-based initiatives, ensuring widespread accessibility and engagement.
