A fire that broke out at a carton factory at Chattogram Export Processing Zone (EPZ) area this evening has been brought under control.

The fire broke out at Unity Accessories Limited at around 6:10pm and was brought under control around 6:30pm, said the Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

Abdur Razzak, its deputy assistant director, said, "The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately. Six fire engines were working to douse the blaze."

"The fire broke out at the fourth floor of six-storey building and later spread to the upper floor. Along with firefighters, a team of Bangladesh Navy are working to control the blaze," he added.

Md Abdus Sobhan, GM of CPEZ told The Daily Star, "The fire was brought under control at around 8:30pm. However, no causality was reported in this connection."
