Why Artcell couldn’t perform at the ‘Shobar Agey Bangladesh’ concert
Music enthusiasts gathered for one of the year's largest concerts yesterday , "Shobar Agey Bangladesh", organised by the Bangladesh National Party at Manik Mia Avenue. The open-air event featured performances by 20-25 artistes and drew a massive crowd.
While most popular bands took the stage, Artcell, one of the main attractions, was unable to perform due to unforeseen circumstances.
The concert, held on the occasion of Victory Day, ended earlier than planned as the gates were closed ahead of schedule for security reasons. This sudden decision left Artcell unable to deliver their anticipated performance.
The band addressed the situation in a statement on their social media platforms, explaining, "Due to excessive crowding at both the concert venue and on the stage, the organisers had to conclude the event earlier than planned for safety reasons. As a result, although Artcell was present on time, the band couldn't perform as the final act."
They added, "We sincerely regret that the audience had to leave without seeing our performance. That said, the massive turnout of music lovers at the 'Shobar Agey Bangladesh' concert is truly a positive and encouraging sign."
The programme, hosted by Rafsan Sabab and Shanta Rahman, also showcased performances by Baul artistes such as Chisty Baul and Aleya Begum. Renowned solo artistes including Monir Khan, Syed Abdul Hadi, Moushumi, Ethun Babu, Nasir Khan, Imran, Kona, Xefer, and Pritom captivated the audience.
Bands such as Nagar Baul, Ark, Shironamhin, Different Touch, and AvoidRafa also took the stage to entertain the audience.
