Bangladesh Meteorological Department today predicted rain in parts of the country, including Dhaka division, from Friday, which may further intensify the cold weather.

"Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during the next 72 hours commencing 6:00am of December 20," said a Met office bulletin today.

The low pressure area lies over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining area, its associated trough extends up to North Bay, it said.

The bulletin added that weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country in 24 hours from 9:00am today.

Night temperature may rise slightly, and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during midnight till morning.

The country's lowest temperature was recorded at Tentulia at 9.01 degrees Celsius today.
