King Charles awards Knighthood to filmmaking couple Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas
Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas, are often seen as the epitome of a power couple. The pair first crossed paths at University College London, bonding over their mutual passion for film.
Married since 1997, they co-founded a production company that has delivered numerous box-office successes. Most recently, they were honoured by King Charles III, with Nolan receiving a Knighthood and Thomas a Damehood.
The British royal family took to social media to share a series of photos from the knighting ceremony, accompanied by the caption, "Arise, Sir Christopher Nolan and Dame Emma Thomas!"
Images from the ceremony were posted on Instagram with the caption, "Congratulations to everyone honoured at today's Investiture ceremonies, including filmmaker Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas."
Christopher Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, were honoured for their exceptional contributions to cinema, having produced iconic films such as "The Dark Knight" trilogy and "Oppenheimer." They received their awards at a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
Nolan shared a memorable moment from the event, revealing that the King had watched his recent film, "Oppenheimer."
"The king mentioned he had seen Oppenheimer and enjoyed it," Nolan said. "It was great to hear that he was familiar with and supportive of our work. He even expressed hope that I'd take this as motivation to keep creating."
In the last 20 years, Nolan and Thomas have produced some of the most impactful films, such as "The Dark Knight" trilogy, "Inception," and "Oppenheimer", to name a few. Their collaboration has reached remarkable milestones, with Thomas becoming the first British producer to win an Oscar for Best Picture.
