West Bengal-based news outlet Anandabazar has recently published a report claiming that Ziaul Faruq Apurba, despite holding a valid Indian visa, missed the premiere of "Chalchitra" due to alleged death threats.

The report suggested that such threats are not uncommon for Bangladeshi celebrities, citing this as the reason for Apurba's absence at the premiere of his first Tollywood film. However, the actor has vehemently denied these claims, calling them baseless.

On Friday (December 20), "Chalchitra" premiered in West Bengal, marking Apurba's debut in Tollywood. Unfortunately, the actor could not attend the grand event in person. Instead, he celebrated this significant milestone while shooting for a drama in a remote area of Rajshahi, near the Bangladesh-India border.

Despite his tight schedule, Apurba stayed updated on the audience's response to his film whenever he could.

The Indian media's claims left Apurba and his shooting crew stunned. Speaking over the phone, the actor directly refuted the rumours, stating, "I couldn't attend due to my shooting schedule. The reasons reported in the Indian media are false. Nothing like that happened, and since I am not involved in politics, such issues do not concern me."

Apurba clarified that he had not received any death threats and that his absence was purely due to professional commitments.

He explained that on December 13, he had been involved in an accident while shooting the web-film "How Sweet". The incident delayed the production schedule, and after recovering, Apurba returned to work with plans to travel to Kolkata on December 17.

However, further delays in completing the web film forced him to prioritise shooting a drama directed by Zakaria Soukhin. With Soukhin scheduled to travel abroad, Apurba felt it was imperative to finish the drama on time, resulting in his decision to forgo the film premiere in West Bengal.

This is not the first instance of misleading reports about Bangladeshi actors in the Indian media. Earlier, it was falsely reported that Chanchal Chowdhury had been placed under house arrest. The actor also dismissed those claims, stating they were entirely unfounded.
