Jaya Ahsan returns to big screen after nine-month hiatus
As the year comes to a close, several films are set for theatrical release, with "Nakshikanthar Zamin" ("A Tale of Two Sisters"), directed by Akram Khan, scheduled to premiere on December 27.
This much-anticipated film, set against the backdrop of the Liberation War, marks Jaya Ahsan's return to the big screen after nearly nine months.
Speaking about the film, Jaya shared, "Nakshikanthar Zamin" will be released on December 27, during the month of victory.
"Rahela, the character I portray, is deeply introverted and feels perpetually cursed. Even in the most emotional moments, her face remains expressionless, like stone. Not a single tear escapes her eyes. This film is more than just a story – it's a visual poem. I encourage everyone to visit theatres and experience this unique journey," she said.
The film is an adaptation of Hasan Azizul Haque's acclaimed work, "Bidhobader Kotha" ("Story of Widows"). It has already gained international recognition, winning an award at the Bengaluru International Film Festival and earning a nomination for the ICFT–UNESCO Gandhi Medal at India's 53rd International Film Festival.
In addition to Jaya Ahsan, the cast includes Iresh Zaker, Rawnak Hasan, Dibya Joyti, Shommo Joyti, and others.
