Seminar titled “Biomechanics of Mental Health” held at UIU
The Department of Civil Engineering of United International University (UIU) organised a seminar titled "Biomechanics of Mental Health" on December 24, 2024 at the UIU Campus.
Prof. Dr Md Taher Abu Saif, Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois, USA, was present as the Keynote Speaker and Prof. Dr A B M Badruzzaman, Vice Chancellor, BUET, was present as the Guest of Honour at the programme. The Executive Director of Institute for Advanced Research (IAR), UIU Professor Emeritus Dr M Rezwan Khan presided over the Ceremony. Prof. Dr Hasan Sarwar, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, UIU, and Prof. Dr Md Mujibur Rahman, Department of Civil Engineering & Director, CSIRS-UIU, also spoke at the programme.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr Rumana Afrin, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, and Proctor, UIU, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dr Muhammad Mizanur Rahaman, Department of Civil Engineering, UIU.
Dr Taher shared his research experience in the United States. At the same time, this distinguished scientist expressed optimism about establishing a micro-electronics lab for higher research in Bangladesh. For this, he called on the country's higher education institutions, including BUET and UIU, to work together.
Dr Taher said that even after a person's age increases, even after the age of 65, it is possible to maintain the functionality of his brain cells with proper and moderate exercise, walking, and hard work. Even after the age of 65, new brain cells are created in the human body through regular walking or exercise.
Dr Badruzzaman highlighted his education and research experiences. At this time, he emphasised on quality higher education and research. At the same time, he expressed hope that more work opportunities will be created with UIU in education, research and innovation.
Mohammad Abdul Moqaddem, Treasurer, UIU, Dr Md Zulfiqur Rahman, Registrar, UIU, faculty members, students, officials, academicians, government high officials, researchers, journalists, and other distinguished guests were present at the programme.
