A mobile court sent a person to jail and fined two others for extracting sand and soil from the shoal of Padma in the Chartarapur area of Pabna's Sadar upazila today.

The mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Pabna Sadar Upazila Md Murad Hossain along with police raided the Gohailbari area this morning.

During the drive, the mobile court caught Abdur Rashid Pramanik, Shahin Alom, and Mizanur Rahman red-handed for extracting sand from the river.

Abdur Rashid and Shahin Alom were fined Tk 50,000 each and Mizanur Rahman sentenced to 20 days imprisonment.

The mobile court also seized an excavator from the spot.

Locals said a group of influentials led by Abdur Rashid and Shahin Alom were extracting sand from the river land illegally.
