A vegetable farm in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor, operated by foreigners from Bangladesh and Pakistan was raided by the Immigration Department.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the foreigners were operating the farm along Jalan Halia Muda, Kampung Johan Setia, under the guise of a temporary employment visit pass for the construction sector, which had expired on January 9, 2025.

"Based on public complaints and intelligence gathered over the past week, an operations team comprising 69 personnel from various ranks was deployed to the area to inspect 70 individuals, including foreigners and a local citizen," he said in a statement today.

He added that following the inspections in the area, the department detained 65 foreigners comprising 42 Bangladeshi men, 13 Myanmar men, one Myanmar woman, four Indonesian men, two Indonesian women, two Pakistani men, and one Indian man.

All of them were arrested under sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

Zakaria said the individuals detained, aged between 18 and 60, had been placed at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action.

The operation began at 11:30am, involving the Special Action Branch, Enforcement Division, along with the Special Tactical Group (Pastak), Intelligence and Special Operations Division of the Immigration Headquarters.
