Despite initial promises of a simultaneous release in India, Anonno Mamun's "Dorod" remains absent from Indian theaters, months after its Bangladesh premiere on November 15. Although the film has debuted in over 20 countries, including the USA, Thailand, and Canada, its much-anticipated Indian release continues to face delays.

The latest news reveals that Indian audiences will have to watch "Dorod" on OTT before it hits cinemas. OTT platform iScreen confirmed the film's release by sharing the movie poster on its official Facebook page.

Prior to shooting in 2023, Anonno Mamun had held a press conference in India, where he claimed that "Dorod" would be Bangladesh's first pan-Indian film, releasing in five languages. Yet, the film is still awaiting its Indian debut. Instead, viewers can now catch the movie from the comfort of their homes on OTT platforms. Whether "Dorod" will eventually be released in Indian cinemas remains uncertain. In another setback, the film was also unable to secure a release in Pakistan. After previewing the film, Pakistani distributors opted not to proceed with a release.

Mamun also faced criticism for the lackluster promotion of "Dorod" ahead of its release. He had initially promised to unveil the teaser on the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai and hold a grand trailer release event with Shakib Khan's fans.

None of those promotional efforts materialized, and poor marketing impacted the film's box office performance. While it opened with decent audience turnout on the first day, attendance quickly dropped by the second day, with the film struggling at both single-screen theaters and multiplexes.

"Dorod" is a Bangladesh-India joint production, with a cast featuring actors from both countries. Shakib Khan stars alongside India's Sonal Chauhan as the female lead. Other key roles are played by Payel Sarkar, Rahul Dev, Rajesh Sharma, Safa Marwa, and Imtu Ratish.
