Saif Ali Khan was attacked in the early hours of Thursday morning by an intruder armed with a knife at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, around 2:30 am. The actor was swiftly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. His public relations team confirmed the attempted break-in and requested privacy while the police carry out their investigation.

Mumbai Lilavati Hospital's Dr Nitin Dange shared his updated condition with the media. "He had four injuries, two on the hand and one on the right side of the neck, whereas the major injury was at the back which was in the spine. The sharp object was lodged inside, which had gone very deep, but it did not damage the spinal cord," as mentioned by his doctor in charge adding that he's very lucky. He further states, "We repaired the leaking spinal fluid and the dura. Today, we made him walk, he is completely okay to walk. He is on a regular diet and that's why we have taken a decision to shift him from the ICU to the normal special room. He has been advised bed rest in view of the deeper injury to the spine."

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police released the suspect detained in the attack case today, according to Indian Express. The report says, the person arrested by the police was brought to Bandra police station for interrogations regarding the case. "The person brought to Bandra police station for questioning is not related to the Saif Ali Khan attack case. No one is detained in the Saif Ali Khan attack case of now, " said police.

Indian Express also highlighted that Mumbai Police is suspecting that the attacker is acquainted with one of Saif Ali Khan's staff members, who granted him access to the house. Police are currently interrogating the staff member, and footage of the attacker was captured on the building's CCTV cameras, which is being supervised. Although the accused was locked in one of the rooms, he managed to escape. Mumbai Police have filed an FIR, invoking non-bailable sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against the suspect.
