Actor Saif Ali Khan, who sustained stab injuries last week and underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital, was discharged today afternoon, sources confirmed. Accompanied by his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif left the hospital and returned to his Bandra residence.

Doctors have advised Saif Ali Khan to remain on complete bed rest for a week and avoid visitors to minimise the risk of infection. Heavy security has been deployed at both the hospital and the actor's residence as large crowds have gathered, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beloved star.

Actor Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds during a burglary attempt at his Bandra home. The assailant, who broke into the house, attacked Saif with a knife, leaving him bleeding heavily. The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw late Wednesday (January 15) night.

One of the stab wounds was dangerously close to his spine, with doctors revealing that the knife missed his spinal cord by just 2mm. Despite this, spinal fluid leakage occurred, necessitating immediate surgery to address the issue. Additionally, Saif underwent plastic surgery to treat injuries on his arm and neck.

Eliyama Philip, who looks after Saif's children, Taimur and Jeh, informed the police that she was the first to notice the intruder. According to her statement, she was awakened by noises around 2 am and noticed that the bathroom door was slightly open, with the light on. Initially, she assumed Kareena Kapoor Khan was checking on Jeh.

Philip described the chilling moments when she encountered the intruder. "I went back to sleep initially, but something felt off. When I woke up again, I saw a man emerging from the bathroom and entering the boy's room," she stated.

"I immediately rushed to Jeh's room, but the man put his finger to his lips and warned, 'Don't make any noise, nobody will go out,' in Hindi," she added.

When she tried to protect Jeh, the intruder, armed with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade, charged at her. "I tried to block his attack by raising my hands, but the blade struck near my wrists and injured the middle finger of my left hand," Eliyama Philip shared.

Summoning her courage, she confronted the man, asking, "What do you want?" He responded, "I want money." When she inquired how much, he replied in English, "One crore."

Hearing Eliyama Philip's screams, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan rushed out of their bedroom to confront the intruder. When Saif questioned the man, he was attacked with a wooden object and a Hexa blade. "Saif Sir somehow managed to escape, and we all ran out of the room, shutting the door behind us," Philips recounted. The family then moved to the upper floor of their residence for safety.

Police on Sunday (January 19) arrested the 30-year-old accused, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who had been living under the alias Vijay Das. The suspect was remanded in police custody for five days. Authorities are expected to recreate the crime scene at Saif Ali Khan's Bandra residence as part of the investigation, officials confirmed.

According to police, the accused had entered the building with the intent to commit burglary. He claimed he was unaware of Saif Ali Khan's identity and targeted the house solely because he believed it belonged to a wealthy individual.
