Tanzid’s rapid 90 secures Dhaka’s third win
Dhaka Capitals opener Tanzid Tamim smashed a 54-ball 90 to help his side achieve a comfortable eight-wicket win over Chittagong Kings at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wedneseday.
The win was only Dhaka's third this season, keeping the franchise in contention for a place in the playoffs.
Chasing 149, Tanzid and Liton Das stitched together a 75-run opening stand before Liton departed for 25 off 28 deliveries. Tanzid played an array of strokes, hitting seven maximums and three fours during his knock. Along with Sabbir Rahman (14), Tanzid notched another 38-run stand to take Dhaka over the ropes with 11 deliveries to spare.
Earlier, Dhaka bowlers kept Chittagong batters on a tight leash after being sent to bowl first. Naeem Islam, coming in to open, was able to lay a platform, but Zubaid Akbari (23) and Graham Clarke (19) could not turn their starts into something bigger. Naeem and Clarke notched a 49-run stand before the latter departed. Mosaddek priced away the wicket of Naeem after a 40-ball 44, leaving Chittagong at 96 for four.
Shamim Hossain was expected to take the game on, but he just could not get going, scoring 15 off 16 before departing to Ronsford Beaton. Haider Ali's 11-ball 16 and Mohammad Mithun's eight-ball 12 helped Chittagong to 148 for six.
