India thrash England to set up Women's U19 WC final against South Africa

Two unbeaten teams will face-off in the ICC Women's T20 Under-19 World Cup Final in Malaysia after the reigning champions India bested England in the second semifinal on at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

Battling for the last spot to take on South Africa in the title decider on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, England opted to bat first after winning the toss.

England got off to a strong start, but India's bowlers turned the game around, restricting them to 113. In response, India made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 15 overs to book their place in the second successive U19 World Cup final.

Davina Perrin and skipper Abigale Norgrove forged a quickfire start for England. Perrin smashed 45 off 40 balls, featuring two massive sixes and four boundaries, while Norgrove contributed 30 off 25, including three fours and a six. Their efforts powered England to 73-2 at the halfway mark.

However, India's bowlers turned the game around in the second half, with Parunika Sisodia and Aayushi Shukla leading the fightback. Shukla struck crucial blows, dismissing both Perrin and Norgrove, slowing England's scoring momentum. Things got worse for England as leading wicket taker in the tournament, Vaishnavi Sharma produced a brilliant 16th over, snapping three wickets as England crumbled to 92-8. A late push by Amrutha Surenkumar saw England amass 113 from their 20 overs.

India got off to a stellar start in their run chase, racing to 44 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. Top-scorer Trisha Gongadi played a fluent knock of 35 off 29 balls before Phoebe Britt provided the breakthrough.

Kamalini G and Sanika Chalke then took charge, guiding India to 70-1 at the halfway mark. Kamalini G unleashed a flurry of boundaries, ensuring India chased down the target comfortably in just 15 overs to secure a dominant nine-wicket victory. For her brilliant spell of 3/14, Parunika Sisodia was adjudged the Player of the Match.
