Bangladesh made a winning start in the ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup, beating Nepal by five wickets in a low-scoring match at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia today.

Jannatul Maoua claimed two wickets for 11 runs in her four overs while five Nepalese batters got run out as Nepal got bundled out for just 52 in 18.2 overs after they were asked to bat first.

Sana Parveen and Seemana KC were the only Nepalese batters to get into double figures, making 19 and 10 respectively.

In reply, Bangladesh lost wickets in regular successions but Sadia Islam and captain Sumaiya Akter made 16 and 12 respectively as the young Tigresses reached 53-5 in 13.2 overs.

This was Bangladesh's opening match in Group D. They will next face Australia on Monday at the same venue.
