Magura crowned divisional champs

Magura beat Khulna in a thrilling final in the girls' section of the National Gold Cup (U-17) football tournament to emerge champions of the Khulna Division yesterday.
Following an intense battle, Magura overcame the hosts 4-3 in tiebreaker to emerge champions in front of a jubilant crowd at the Khulna Divisional Sports Complex.

Regulation time had ended in a goalless draw as neither side could break down the opposition despite repeated attacks. Khulna midfielders Puja Roy and Trisha had especially made multiple attempts at goal but Magura goalkeeper showcased exceptional skill, thwarting all the attempts.

Meanwhile, in the semifinals on Saturday played at the same venue, Khulna and Magura had secured victories in both their boys' and girls' events.
In the girls' semifinals, Magura had defeated Narail 1-0 while Khulna had thrashed Satkhira 6-1.

Md. Boktiar Rahman Gazi, District Sports Officer said,the divisional round of the tournament commenced on February 4 at the Divisional Women's Sports Complex. A total of 10 boys' and 10 girls' teams from the ten districts of Khulna Division participated in the event.
